Analoge Photography

As long as I can remember I have loved taking photos. I bought my first camera in elementry school. I quickly became the new family photographer taking up the legacy after my mother. Finally she could be present in some of the family pictures as well.

In the beginning of my art studies photography was more a hobby than a material to express myself. My film-rolls where full of people rather than objects and natural phenomena. The turning point came when I got an assignment at Strykejernet Kunstskole to make a sculpture in clay. I had no prior experience with clay (excluding the brief classes growing up) and was struggeling a lot. It was heavy, I was angry and the hours passed by. Clay and I did not experience a love at first touch. Around midnight I surrendered. I cut the lump of clay in to three parts, dropped them to the floor, beat them with a wooden stick, and stacked them on top of each other. I picked up my camera and shot a picture to prove to my teacher that I at least had been trying. It was my first object or art photography.

Today, after studying and practicing art for more than five years, photography is as important for me as any other art form.
